Looking at the site of Tuesday's water main burst it's hard to imagine that it will be back to normal anytime soon. I heard grumblings from a local about the numerous workers on site that seem to not really be doing anything, while the others were working hard on getting Montrose and the affected businesses back up and running. Hmm, well good thing the Olympics are a few years off.

Holy crap--I had not bothered to click on this story, but now wish I had. That is one hell of a hole. I know dick about engineering, but the El is AWFULLY close to this puppy (as a side note, I happily patronized the laundry in the wide shot (taken, I would guess from the El platform???) for a couple of years. I recommend it.
